[Anime of the Week] The World God Only Knows (2/27-3/5/2011)

Runtime: 24min/ep
# of Eps: 12
Type: manga

Keima Katsuragi is an avid galge gamer known at his school as "Otamega" (a derogatory term combining the words Otaku and Megane) and on the internet a "The Capturing God." One day he receives an e-mail offering him a contract to "capture" girls. He accepts thinking it's a challenge and a demon from Hell named Elsee appears. She asks for his help in capturing runaway spirits that are hiding in "real" girls. He refuses stating he only likes the girls from the game. She tells him that if he refuses then both of their heads will be cut off.

[Anime of the Week][Why'd I Bother #6] Vriable Geo (2/20-26/2011)

Well... not to be confused with the hentai Variable Geo Neo... which is based on a eroge game where as Variable Geo is based on a series of fighting games of which the eroge is based on... ya. The reason it's on the Why'd I Both series is because well... it had an interesting concept but the whole humiliation thing having to be stripping completely naked was obviously made for males... and I'm clearly a girl ok! ... but the whole fighting thing to get the grand prize of some prime realastate and money so you could be the most popular waitress ever could be a concept for a normal made for TV anime.

Runtime: 24min/ep
# of Eps: 3
Type: game based
Rating: Mature
Synopsis:
The special of the day is Variable Geo, a brutal battle between waitresses who serve up generous portions of energy blasts and vicious side orders of murderous martial artistry. For buffed beauties who make below-minimum wages, VG is the perfect way to make some fast cash. The victorious walk away with millions, and the defeated lose everything (namely, all their clothes). But this high-stakes sport has dark forces and dubious practices behind the fun and games. Lethal injections make steroids seem like vitamins. Instead of team prayer, there's demonic possession. Athletic sponsors are malevolent corporations with a more frightening agenda than increased market share. It's all just part of the game.

[Anime of the Week] FLCL (2/13-19/2011)

FLCL is an anime everyone loves to hate and hates to love. It's not a show you can really ever fully understand, and the manga even less so but to those who can watch all 11 episodes you will be rewarded with confidence in yourself. Maybe.

Runtime: 24min/ep
# of Eps: 6
Type: originally a OVA, but has a manga adaptation that came out around the same time fram as the OVA was being released
Rating: Teen
Synopsis:

FLCL revolves around Naota. His life is interrupted by the arrival of Haruko Haruhara, who bursts on the scene by running Naota over with her Vespa scooter, then giving him CPR and hitting him on the head with a blue vintage Rickenbacker 4001 left-handed electric bass guitar.[2][3] Later, Naota is shocked to find Haruko working in his house as a live-in maid.Since then, Giant Robots from Medical Mechanica have been coming out of Naota's head and cause more problems for Naota and Haruko. Haruko is using Naota for her search for the Pirate King, Atomsk, which puts her at odds with Medical Mechanica, the monolithic industrial corporation. At the same time, Naota is being watched by Commander Amarao, who believes that Medical Mechanica is out to conquer the galaxy. The combination of circumstances gets Naota involved in a three-way battle between Haruko, Amarao and Medical Mechanica. The underlying theme is Naota's coming of age as he becomes more mature and learns to express his feelings.

[Anime of the Week][Why I bother #5] Kimi ni Todoke s.1&2 (2/6-12/2010)

Appologies for not updating AoTW in 2 weeks.
I don't have a good excuse, just didn't get around to posting.
So... um, ya Kimi ni Todoke is based on the award winning manga of the same name and the fact that it is being animated by powerhouse studio Production IG just can't seem to save this anime! I love the manga, please don't get me wrong, it's just that with such an indecisive main character you will have an anime that seems to drag on with issues never or hardly ever getting solved and even then they never seem fully taken care of. ... I do admit I've seen all the episodes out to date and just can't seem to stop watching them... it's like crack! o3 o I can't recommended this anime to those wanting a heart wrenching shojo because it's just too darn draggy... but I would recommend reading the manga version 'cause it got awards because it deserves those awards. Saddest part is this show apparently gets good ratings and just might get a 3rd season... ugh.

Runtime: 24 min/ep
