I've been wanting to watch this one since I heard of it. Ever since watching the Unlimited Blade Works movie I've been more of a Fate fan than ever. It's interesting that this one is a prequel that wasn't even a visual novel or game like most of Fate's other parts (the visual novel is made of 3 parts and there's a fighting game as well) but it was a series of light novels. What most people probably don't know is that before Type Moon was even known as Type Moon some of the members were behind a novel series Kara no Kyoukai (The Garden of Sinners). Guess Type Moon has their roots in light novels.

Ah Last Exile, it's one of those unappreciated anime I wish more people would watch and love. The opening and ending are some of my favorites, and the "steam punk" style is always a pleasure for the eyes to see. When I heard it was getting a direct sequel I'll be honest, I was a bit shocked. I don't remember the original being all that popular and while doing research on this one the fact that FUNimation already has an English site ready to simulcast the show is even more shocking because when I ask people what they think of Last Exile most say it's an ok show.

Future Diary is one of those rare really good manga that I believe everyone, even fans of comics, should read. You don't need to be a fan of manga to enjoy it. I'm really looking forward to this anime. I've seen the ova already, and while it did the manga justice considering it was so short I'm hoping the anime does at least as good as the ova did.

Then again, Gundam Builders was pretty good from what I saw so I could be completely wrong and this could be what the Gundam franchise needs. Though I'm a huge fan of Gundam Unicorn.

Some of you out there in the virtual cyber world may be asking "but Akia, what is a Gundam?" I say to you how can you be an otaku and not know what a Gundam is. *sigh* I'll tell you briefly anyways. For someone who isn't an otaku, Gundam are similar to Transformers. Gundam are giant robots basically. Some god American examples would be shows like Megas XLR and IGPX. Here's a video of the type of Gundam (model kits to be exact) that this blog series is for (not just this one, but almost all Gundam kits out there that are snap together).

This entry is dedicated to the kind of supplies you need to build a Gundam (excluding any sort of painting, that'll be in a different entry). I'll go over which ones you will need and ones that are optional (just depends on the kind of method you use) A * indicates one you will need unless otherwise mentioned:

#1 *Clippers aka Nippers-

you dont really need them for sd and no grade kits but for all the other ones it's best to have a pair because ive learned from trying that twisting pieces off the runners can cause then to break

#2 *Exacto Knife (or hobby blade)-

used for cutting off excess pegs

#3 cutting board-

some people don't need one of these cause they can cut off the pegs in their hands but I like using one to be safe, to help prevent getting cut. make sure it's a crafting cutting board and not one for food

4 Black Gundam marker-

not exactly needed, but Gundam markers are made specifically in size for accurate panel lining. you can also buy them in other colors for coloring

5 Q-tips-

I learned Q-tips are good for wiping of excess marker, you can also use an eraser or your fingers

5 Tweezers-

I recently learned tweezers are really good for taking decals off their sheets and placing on a Gundam

6 Tooth-picks-

good for getting decals to lay flat

So um... the Summer 2011 anime season has been well under way (most series are now at 4-5 episodes) and there are some interesting shows playing, one namely being the one I've chosen as AOW this time. Interesting fact is this anime is being directed by the same one as Utena. You can really tell when side views of the characters faces are shown, so keep an eye out all ye Utena fans who have been waiting for the directors next work to finally come out.

The cover of this first one is very interesting. The whole swim suit mixed with a wedding dress is apparently every otaku's dream to have a girl wear for them. You'll have a hard time finding this one in English because according to Baka-manga it was never translated.

I know someone who is a big fan of Aki Sora, and I personally have started reading this one here. Normally I don't read manga with incest (I dropped Onii-chan after only a few chapters), but this one comes highly recommended so I decided to give it a chance.

This one actually peaked my interest the most, but yet again Baka-manga has it as not translated. =(

The other manga listed I have no interest in at all 'cause they apparently were made just to please the perverted otaku out there who have no life outside of their room.

Bandai is giving love this time around to Gundam Unicorn, in the form of the RGM-86R GM III. This is from ZZ Gundam bear in mind, and not the Unicorn version, which has different colors As some know, the GM is the mass produced version of the Gundam, using similar technologies, but also keeping it's cost down by not using some of the more complex systems that the prototypes use.

This model is due out in July, and at around $20 or so depending on the current exchange rate, it's sure to make some of us mass produced or grunt type lovers happy.

I'm on episode 12 as I post this and it's very evident the anime did a bad job of putting the moments needed to actually make me cry like the manga did. Well, after throwing that curve ball at us in the form of the 1/144 RG Aile Strike Gundam, Bandai is now announcing they are going to be releasing the 1/144 RG Zaku II. Truth is, I figured it would be released in the near future, but does that mean you should run out and get it once it's out? Well, that really depends on you. It's more or less just a recolor, adding a few extra pieces to the runners. If you absolutely must have it, then that is your choice.

It's release is slated for July 2011 for the price of 2,500 Yen, or about $30 USD.

I am, matter of fact, a fan of some guro (I don't know a better word to describe these since they aren't just violent. but I am not a fan of what's known as ero-guro which is erotic violent hentai). I liked the Genocyber enough to claim myself as a fan of it, but I should probably go back and re-watch it before continuing to say that as many people have in fact told me it's bad anime. I also enjoyed Elfen Lied as many people fans of gur

o and not have as well. But I think what really defines me as a slight fan of guro is the short I read a few months ago about these girls who are obsessed with cutting open their stomachs like samurai's did, but the girls would just end up in the hospital (it's called Kinjin Gahou). I like both Battle Royale movies, but I think more so 'cause of the characteristics the teenagers had in a severe life or death situation. I've also finished an interesting title called Akazukin Red Hood. Then there was that underapreciated anime adaptation for chaos;HEAD... I am remotely a guro fan. One thing I'm not is a yaoi let alone shonen-ai fan and this manga

has a focus on that without being straight up playing to any fan girl of boys love (aka what Japanese like to call a "fujoshi"). Now it's bad on my part for not reading all of the summary on the back and trusting that reviewers on the internet have mainly had positive reviews of this title...

One thing this manga does do very well is make use of limited scenes to give it that feel of a play. I bet the artist did this because it is based on a play. Herp derp. There's plenty of symbolism in this lengthy one shot that I just don't have the space to talk about without boring you (which I think at this point I probably already have * shrugs*). Just some examples would be the club members speaking German and their military like uniforms. There is also a reference to The Last Supper from The Bible. Lychee Light Club cuts eminently

to the chase introducing the characters, and killing off a few in the just a small amount of time. I can't really go too much into the story without ruining the book, but the club members have a thing against women because of their shapely bodies. They find women gross, and kill any off they find snooping in their club. That is until their creation (hey this isn't a spoiler, the summary gives this away!) brings back a flat chested girl.

Art wise, this manga has it's merits. With crisp dark yet eerily lively backgrounds and girly character designs even for the guys this is definantly a manga with that guro art style fans have come to love from the genre. I'm not really a fan o

f this kind of art though, and I can't really say much on it other than that. I particularly like how the artist showed us how the creation could see. mad points for that!

The cover is appropriate and is what sold me on wanting to get this manga. Especially the back. It made me wonder "why is that girl sitting on a throne in front of what looks like underground pipes?" Another big selling point for me was this manga has a character that was created artificially by the people in the club. I have a thing for liking stories that deal with AI and creating life.

Overall, Lychee Light Club ended up being a commentary on what makes someone human. Even though I put in as I just don't know, it's still a good read. I, as only a kind of fan of this type of manga enjoyed it. "If you want to be truly human, you mustn't kill people."

You're right if that synopsis sounds familiar, because it sounds a whole lot like Desire Climax which is one of my alllllllll time favorite smut manga. Ya, I admit it. I'm a smut fan. Get @ Me! Other than that... I'm a sucker for romance.

I read the first volume a while back and just got swamped (all my fault) with tons of other manga that caught my attention more, but when having to choose 3 manga for this I thought I should finally read the second volume of Stepping on Roses.

My uh relationship with smut has gone like this: first series I read was Love Monster, followed by Midnight Secretary, then Desire Climax, Hot Gimmick, Butterflies Flowers, some others and now Stepping on Roses. Out of those series, 4 involved some form of money problems and being indebted to a guy who just happens to like being "ecchi". I don't think there's a trend here or anything with my tastes, that just seems to be what a lot of this type of manga is *shrugs*

There's not much to say about this volume. If you've rea

d any sort of shojo before, you've pretty much expierenced what this has to offer. It's about marrying someone you don't like, falling for someone else but feeling like you have an obligation to the forced marriage you're in. I'm a girl, so these kind of comics tend to peak my interest. I know from a critical stand point it's nothing special, and is just a rehash of an age old concept. The art is, like most shojo, crisp and constant. This is one's for shojo fans. It's not as much smut as the other series I listed.

I've always been a fan of D.N.Angel and used to read D.Gray-man; March Story is like the perfect hybrid of these two. D-Gray-man used to be really good, until the artist changed their style and then made the story stupid. DNAngel just has a weird release schedule and now with Tokyopop closing in May, I don't know if another company will pick up the series and release volumes 14+. I really hope someone does.

Back when I picked up the first volume, it had been on a whim. The cover looked interesting, the and synopsis sounded average but good. And Viz Signature has never disappointed me with their superb release cateloug. A few favorites of mine from the signature line are Saikano, Dogs, Bokurano and Solanin.

March Story has proven to have an ok story, but the characters and art have kept me wanting more. The art, being it's drawn by a Korean, is breathtakingly beautiful! The story on the other hand is average at most (each chapter has a stand alone story) and while this story is rated M and is in the seinen category, there isn't much in the first two volumes that warrant this rating other than non-sexual nudity and some blood. The violence is not that violent. I highly recommended this series for anyone who is a fan of good art and manga in general.

One last note... March Story is the first manga ever able to actually not only make me cry inside but form tears in my eyes. I don't really know why considering it's just an average story...

Viz media's Ikki and Signature line of comics have been proving to be some of the best out there. Well, I should say the current version of this line of manga. My first experience with it was when I found out they decided to release Dogs the Prequel and the manga ( haven't heard of any word for the side ones though). And now they've recently released the second volume of March Story which is best described as the love child of D.Gray-man and D.N.Angel.

Bandai sure isn't forgetting about the Gundam Wing fans, as their continued releases of new Gundam Wing model kits, more specifically the designs from Hajime Katoki. This time around, Bandai is really getting the fans ready to go with the 1/100 MG Epyon version EW. And just like Epyon's of yore, this one can transform into it's twin-headed Dragon mode, and it also comes with one of the cooler weapons out there, the Heat Rod.

Suggested retail price for this bad mother is roughly 4800 Yen, or about $55 USD. So best start rolling up them pennies, mowing lawns, or forget about eating McDonald's for a while, because this is one kit that will probably sell faster than hot cakes.

New "Blood" anime collaboration from CLAMP & Production IG coming July 2011

Manga powerhouse team CLAMP will be creating the original story and character designs for this anime which will take place in the Blood universe. Blood spans through an OVA (Blood the Last Vampire), TV anime (Blood +), novels, manga and a live action version. Production IG will be in charge of animation. Production IG was the company behind the animated versions of CLAMP's xxxHolic and Tsubasa Chronicles. [Manga Spotlight][Text Ver.] Gate 7

That is pretty much the face I made when I realized Clamp's Gate 7 wasn't just a one shot but now an ongoing series. It's about time I got around to reading the one shot and 2 chapters that are out translated so far. (at the time of posting this, that is all that is out in Japan as well) Also this is apparently Clamp's first new work in 6 years. I thought their previous, yet still ongoing, title Kobato was only a year or so old but alas I was wrong.

Gate 7 One-Shot (or should it be called a prequel?):
After reading a good amount of Clamp's recent work (I've read all of Tsubasa, xxxHolic and 2 volumes of Kobato), I can say this one shot is definitely a Clamp work but it is more on the lighter side than some of their previous and recent work. It's ends on a 'heart beat' note and leaves a lot of questions. None of the characters were really developed, and all I can gather is the main character has some sort of powers or immunity to powers he himself can't explain and no one can yet seem to explain either. This is a Clamp work, so the art and dialogue are well done as par usual.

I'm not really going to delve into the other 2 chapters that are out because this is a manga spotlight, not a random manga entry. I hope just knowing that this is a Clamp title makes you want to read it. I know when I found out about Gate 7 back in fall of 2010 I was excited that I could read a new Clamp series. They haven't disappointed me.

K-ON! continuation to be 2 manga Serials

For those of you who really care about the moe-blob franchise known as K-ON! (despite how horrible I've been told the second season of the anime has been) would probably like to know the new manga isn't going to just be one series but TWO. The one that will follow Yui and company on their adventures in college is slated to start serialization May 2011 in Kirara magazine, while a second series to follow Azusa, Ui, and Jun in high school will be published starting in Kiarara Carat's June 2011 issue.

I've never been the biggest fan of K-ON but from what I saw of it (all of the first season) maybe this manga that follows them in college would be worth the read. I have a good friend who thinks it will probably be more like Genshiken than anything, and if he is right I will love the new manga.

[Touhou] Reitaisai 8 Rescheduled; 13th Touhou game Demo Delayed

The next installment in the Touhou series of hell shooters (aka shmups) was slated to be released in demo form at the 8th annual Reitaisai convention originally scheduled for March 13 2011 but due to the recent 9.0 Earthquake Japan was hit by the convention has recently been rescheduled for May 8th 2011 at a place called Tokyo Big Site. This 13th game (aka "Ten Desires") will feature veteran Touhou characters Reimu, Marisa and Sanae as well as a 4th character named Youmu Konpaku who was not in a Touhou game since the 10.5th game (pictured in order below).

I personally haven't played enough of the Touhou games to know if these characters are good. I can only say I'm a Flandre fan and she's clearly not listed. Reimu seems to be a favorite amount Touhou fans, and I like the character designs for all of them.

Oh my goodness, Bandai has announced it's next Real Grade, or RG as you will, and I don't think most of us were expecting this. (Yeah yeah, I know it was announced a while back, so sue me).

This time around, love is being given in the shape of the 1/144 RG GAT-X105 Aile Strike from Gundam Seed. And from initial looks, the inner frame looks to be different from the RX-78-2 and Zaku II that have already been released. I was not expecting to see this happen, but I am thrilled nonetheless. Slated for a April release, it looks to be on sale for a reasonable US price of $25 before shipping charges.

Though, with all these intriguing releases, wetting the appetites of almost everyone, one could only wonder what Bandai might have up their sleeves for their next Perfect Grade.

At the current exchange rate from the Japanese Yen, this model will set you back about $79USD, but with a decent weapon payload, including the two GN Sword II's, the GN Sword III, as well as the Beam Sabers, and let's not forget the important 0 Raiser This particular unit will also come with one LED unit, but could also take up to four, so chances are you'll have to order more through some other means (maybe HobbyLink Japan will have them?)

One could only hope this model doesn't suffer from the same LJS (loose joint syndrome) as the MG Exia.

The reason it's on the Why'd I Both series is because well... it had an interesting concept but the whole humiliation thing having to be stripping completely naked was obviously made for males... and I'm clearly a girl ok! ... but the whole fighting thing to get the grand prize of some prime realastate and money so you could be the most popular waitress ever could be a concept for a normal made for TV anime.

[Anime of the Week][Why I bother #5] Kimi ni Todoke s.1&2 (2/6-12/2010)

I don't have a good excuse, just didn't get around to posting.

So... um, ya Kimi ni Todoke is based on the award winning manga of the same name and the fact that it is being animated by powerhouse studio Production IG just can't seem to save this anime! I love the manga, please don't get me wrong, it's just that with such an indecisive main character you will have an anime that seems to drag on with issues never or hardly ever getting solved and even then they never seem fully taken care of. ... I do admit I've seen all the episodes out to date and just can't seem to stop watching them... it's like crack! o3 o I can't recommended this anime to those wanting a heart wrenching shojo because it's just too darn draggy... but I would recommend reading the manga version 'cause it got awards because it deserves those awards. Saddest part is this show apparently gets good ratings and just might get a 3rd season... ugh.

I had the pleasure of meeting Monica Rial at LCAD 2011! She was great.

During her "Voice Acting with Monica Rial" Q&A Session she remembered my name solely based on my letting her know on her Facebook fan page that I would be asking a Parasite Dolls question (and she was able to remember my name through out the day such as when I went to get her autograph, and during the charity auction of which I won this piece of art by one of my favorite local artists Scotty). Interesting part is most of the people on her fan page tend to have anime pictures as their profile pic, and I was one of those people at the time of posting my notice of question. I wish I had gotten on film my reaction and her response to my reaction and the question on film but I was unable to. Instead, she answered some questions of mine via Facebook (originally this was going to be a YouTube interview but she had to leave by the time I worked up the guts to ask if she would do an interview for the Captain M Show):

1) First off I'd like to ask, were you an "Anime fan" before ever getting into the world of English dubbing and if so what would you say was the first anime you knew was an anime?

I don't know if I would've considered myself an "anime fan" per se but I did like a lot of Japanese animation and Japanese culture. I watched Sailor Moon, Voltron, Speed Racer and that kind of stuff growing up but I never really thought about it as being from Japan, you know? My best friend growing up was Japanese so she would always bring me Hello Kitty stuff and kokeshi dolls from her trips. My little bro was a big anime fan and I watched a lot with him. I watched and loved Akira, Totoro, Ghost in the Shell, but he was more the anime fan than I was. I was just a casual fan not an otaku, I guess. I do read manga now but mostly for work when adapting scripts. :) It's nice to compare our translation to the manga to hopefully get everything right. :)

2) I remember you saying something about anyone who wants to get into the world of voice acting should not just focus on voice acting (especially on anime alone). I wasn't able to hear your full answer, so if you wouldn't mind what is your advice to fans who want to get into the world of English dubbing?

My first rule of advice is become an actor. That's the most important word in the phrase "voice actor". Get out there and join a local theater company, take a theater class at school, whatever you can to work on your skill. After that, you'll need to take voice acting classes in front of a microphone to learn mic technique. If you contact a local talent agency they'll tell you where you can find classes. Also, you have to live where the work is (or be an excellent liar with a really fast car). Anime companies won't pay for travel and accommodations so you have to live where the companies are: Dallas, Houston, Vancouver, NY or LA. Then you have to create a demo which should be clips of you doing different voices. DO NOT DO THE MEATWAD OR GOLLUM VOICE! It's not about crazy voices, directors want to hear YOUR voice and the different tones you can take with it. Then you send out your demo and wait. In the meantime, my suggestion would be to get into commercial voice acting. One commercial voice-over gig can pay as much a a full series of anime dubbing. Seriously. Dubs don't pay a lot and they're very hard work. The real money is in commercial voice-over. The most important thing I can say to anyone who wants to become a voice actor is...stop downloading illegally. The anime industry is suffering BIG TIME. There are no auditions for new voice actors right now. There's barely enough work for the voice actors who've been working for years. So if you want to be a voice actor, stop downloading otherwise there aren't going to be any anime dubs anymore. Period.

3) Is most of your current anime related work done through Funimation, or are there other companies you've been doing work from as well you'd like more people to know about?
I also work for the company formerly known as ADV and they have a few different names now. I've also done some work for Bangzoom! and other LA peeps.

4) As a fan of more obscure anime (such as Parasite Dolls) what series have you done voice work for you personally never see mentioned by fans or rarely mentioned? Also which of these series do you think more people should watch?
Wow, there's a lot of them. I think Rahxephon is number 1. It has a pretty strong fan base but not as much as I think it should. I LOVE that show. A few others would be: Generator Gawl, Princess Nine, Kurau Phantom Memory, Casshern Sins, Godannar... There's a lot of them. They should all be watched for different reasons! Rahxephon and Kurau are beautifully animated and amazingly heart wrenching stories. Generator Gawl was a fun show with depth (also the first show I did with Vic Mignogna) and Princess Nine is all about friendship and how we relate to one another. Casshern Sins was beautiful with a powerful message and Godannar was fun and had some great characters.

5) If you could pick a character you've done voice work for and have that character have a conversation with another character from a different series you've been in, who would you choose and what do you think their conversation would be about?
I would probably have Ai from Shin Chan sit down with Hazuki from Moon Phase. It'd be fun because they're both haughty little brats with foul mouths. So I'm sure the conversation would sound cute but actually be incredibly feisty.

6) Here's a question just for laughs, if you could cast Sheldon (Jim Parsons ;) in an anime role what role would that be and why?
Um, Jim would be either the goofy hero (Like Kenichi or Goku) or the debonair gentleman (Like Sebastian from BB) . I've seen him work on stage so I know he can do pretty much anything. He's kind of that Jimmy Stewart type- put him in any role and it works. He's incredibly talented. :)

7) Last question, if you could insert yourself in any of the many worlds you have gotten to be apart of via anime which world would that be, why and would the story you have inserted yourself in still end the way it did?
I've always said that if I could live in any anime world it would be Tsubasa because everyone is tall and thin and they move like ballerinas. :) If I put myself into Tsubasa I would want to be the spunky lady-in-waiting to Princess Sakura. I could tease Syaoran and the Princess about all their mushiness and get cuddly with Mokona. I'd want to fight too. I'd fight alongside Kurogane and Fai with a bow and arrow! :) I'd still want the story to end the same...when it ends... if it ends... ;)

What's this "Mardock Scramble"?

Mardock Scramble started off as a thick one volume light novel written by Tow Ubukata who is best known state side for his novel Chaos Legion of which the Capcom video game of the same name is based on. The novel was to be adapted into an anime, but on December 21st 2006 Gonzo anounced that the project was canceled but if it was ever to have been completed it would have been an OAV. Recently the novel has been adapted into a movie called Mardock Scramble: The First Compression, and it seems this is only the start of a trilogy of animated films. The film was released November 6th 2010 to Japanese audiences and has not currently seen an English release. The novel on the other hand was released by Viz Media on January 18th 2010 in English. There is also a manga adaptation.

Synopsis (novel): Why me? It was to be the last thought a young prostitute, Rune-Balot, would ever have...as a human anyway. Taken in by a devious gambler named Shell, she became a slave to his cruel desires and would have been killed by his hand if not for the self-aware All-Purpose Tool (and little yellow mouse) known as Oeufcoque. Now a cyborg, Balot is not only nigh-invulnerable but has the ability to disrupt electrical systems of all sorts. But even these powers may not be enough for Balot to deal with Shell, who offloads his memories to remain above the law, the immense assassin Dimsdale-Boiled, or the neon-noir streets of Mardock City itself.

Well last feature was a fanservice anime, and well this one is in a way... but it's more like violence and more violence. It played on SyFy channel back when it was SciFi in the States. Back when SciFi had the best anime on mondays =( I miss those days.

Something interesting about this anime is it is based on a manga by the artist of GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka). :D That auta have sold you on wanting to watch this. Pfft.

1/15/11~ Here's this seasons Queen's Blade. Let's tear off your clothes in the most unrealistic way possible. From what I hear the manga is actually a good read. It's by the same person as Kuro Kami of which the anime adaptation was butchered. Turns out from my source Freezing is getting the same treatment. Hmmm...

1/6/11~ I think the people at ANN are being a bit harsh on this series. It wasn't bad for what it's based on - a series of slot machines in Japan. The show itself could have been so much worse. There is a good amount of fan service, but not enough that ladies can't enjoy the show. Now, I will give ANN props for pointing out how odd it is a casino praises having a dealer who brings gamblers luck and makes them money rather than the casino.

The narrative follows all of the characters equally, showing how their lives intersect, creating a greater plotline from what each character knows about a common incident.

I'm too lazy to do reviews of what I've read of some manga series recently BUT I will give you links ( to manga reader sites. completely free) to some noteworthy titles that I found very amusing:

Bousou Shojo

Synopsis: Makino Yayoi is a 16 year old high-school girl who made a promise with her mother that she wouldn't have sex until she turned 20, because, "You'll grow a dick!" This story is about how Makino goes through every sexual act in the book to delay sex with a fellow classmate, Suzuki-kun, who she mistakenly begins to believe, wants to rape her and take her virginity!

Wolf Guy - Wolfen Crest

Synopsis: Ms. Aoshika is not only divorced, but an underappreciated teacher at her job. But one drunken mishap leads her to witness firsthand the brutal assault and murder of a young man. However, after fainting, she awakens to discover that all of the assailants have been seriously wounded. And to her further surprise, the next day she discovers that not only is the young man Akira she met the night before alive, but he is now her new transfer student.

China Girl

Synopsis: Kamijou is the envy of all of his coworkers. At the office, he can solve any problem. Outside, he is chased by every girl under the sun. Kamijou, however, only has eyes for one girl: Xianglan, a Chinese immigrant who works as a waitress in the local Chinese restaurant. She can't see him as anything other than a customer, and her lack of fluency in Japanese prevents her from understanding him. Will Kamijou manage to woo Xianglan, or is he forever fated to fail?

Gang King

Synopsis: The lead character, Jimmy (Katsuya Oonishi) is an art student at Bara-Gaku ('Bara Juuji Gakuin'; Rose-Cross Academy). When he was little, he almost drowned, but was saved by a tattoo artist. From that day, Jimmy vowed to become a tattoo artist (because tattoos signify 'a hero' to him). Jimmy's a decent person by nature, but because of the people he hangs out with, he's considered a delinquent. Banko, his partner-in-crime, is a shrewd kid; he sells information on the popular girls (phone numbers, likes and dislikes, etc) in the area. Despite the delinquent exterior, Banko is actually really smart and has broad general knowledge. As the story progresses, Jimmy and Banko meet new people and they form a gang of their own; along the way they bump heads with other gangs from other schools/districts. This manga is not the typical highschool-slice-of-life story; it's got a rougher edge! This manga depicts some high school delinquents trying to get through high school life and gang fights. Okay no, mostly just gang fights.

I know I'm posting this in December, but I started this drama on the last day of November so it's the bonus pick for November :P OH, and I decided on this one as a bonus because while watching the first 6 episodes I couldn't stop... ya... I know.

Synopsis:

Season 1- Makino Tsukushi is the only poor student at Eitoku Gakuen, the school of the ridiculously rich and privileged that is ruled by Flower 4 or F4, a group of four boys who come from extremely powerful families: Domyoji Tsukasa, the leader and heir of the Domyoji World Finance Group; Hanazawa Rui, the introverted son of a large company; Nishikado Sojiro, a player who is the heir of a tea ceremony school; and Mimasaka Akira, a madam killer with ties to the underground. If a student gets on the F4’s bad side, he/she gets a red notice and is bullied and driven out of school.

Makino hopes to pass her days quietly-- without drawing any attention to herself-- but one day, she stands up to Domyoji in defense of her friend. The next day, Makino gets the dreaded red notice. Even though she is harassed, Makino decides to keep going to school because she is a "tough weed". She declares war right back on the F4. Her resolve gets the attention of her crush Hanazawa Rui and oddly enough, rouses romantic feelings in her worst enemy, Domyoji Tsukasa.

I do have to admit that Ichigo does look pretty darn cool when using his last resort- a move that will forever rid him of his Shinigami powers... well at least that's what the manga said but we all know full and well that people never really loose their power in manga... ever. BUT BUT Kisuke comes and saves the day with his new KIDO. Oh ho ho... ho? Man... is there ever going to be a limit to what death gods are allowed to invent?? =V Methinks not!

422: Zaraki looking all bad ass and bloodied while Kuchiki just has one arm scathed! I'm realizing more and more... I miss Ichigo having short hair but hey he's going to tell everyone the truth apparently about his being a Shinigami. But doesn't his dad already know?And it ends with every one freaking out that Ichigo passed out or something. NO DUH SHERLOCKS! HE just finished an epic battle... of course he'd more than likely pass out in pain.

423: 18,800 years in prison. Is there some meaning behind this number? Oh ho ho, talk back and get it raised to 20k!! And seems Gin had good in him. Heh, doesn't that always happen? Some if not all the villans had some ounce of goodness. And Ichigo's hair is back to normal! And... it continues. GOSH, this is like Inuyasaha syndrome. Going on for way too long...

424: Hmm, wow great way to start the new "arch" by starting the intro as if it were the beginning of the series but Ichigo now can't see ghosts. AND WE SKIP 1 YEAR 5 MONTHS INTO THE TWILIGHT ZO... i mean future. WRYYY? Heh, Ichigo can fight now xD rofl. He all "buff" and stuff. ... really. REALLY. REAAAAAAAAALLLY. Ichigo seems to have helped a shinigami without knowing so 0_0

Synopsis:

Heita Fukai is an ordinary, but timid, high school student who has no interest in love. This all changes when a new transferee student arrives at his school. Heita discovers that the girl is actually a robot named Q10. The duo starts to cause trouble in school, while Heita starts to fall in love with the robot. This is how their story begins ...

One day Heita Fukai finds a girl sleeping in the science lab. When Heita touches her, she suddenly wakes up and opens her eyes. The girl was actually brought to the lab by the school's principal Jiro Kishimoto. The previous night, principal Jiro Kishimoto, after a night of drinking alcohol, discovered the girl in the garbage. The drunk principal takes her to his home.

The next morning the principal notices that the girl doesn't breathe at all and he asks for help from Heita's homeroom teacher Tatsune Ogawa. Tatsune Ogawa recommends that they should hide the girl in the science lab. When they get there, they find Doctor of Engineering Kuriko Yanagi in the lab. Kuriko notices that the girl is actually a robot with human looks. A secret does exist within her.

The principal is afraid of a scandal and proposes a solution. They should keep this a secret and under the situation, Heita becomes the caretaker for the robot; not realizing that he has totally fallen in love with her...

I'm pretty sure all 10 volumes are original prints, which I prefer my manga to be especially the older ones ^_^ Happi Robot has a ton of older Tokyopop titles that are now out of print and/or hard to get!
